Apprenticeships
Schulthess Maschinen AG has been successfully training apprentices since 1960. We aim to give young professionals a foot on the ladder and optimal preparation for the world of work.
As a mechanical engineering firm, we follow the training plans of the Swiss Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Industries (Swissmem). The range of mechanical and electrical engineering professions on offer makes the training very exciting and opens up a variety of interesting career prospects and opportunities.
It is important to us to also be able to offer permanent positions to our apprentices, wherever possible, following the successful completion of their apprenticeships. Many apprentices therefore stay on with the company after their training and benefit from our professional development opportunities.
Great Place to Work We are proud to announce that, as of May 2019, Schulthess has been awarded Certified training company status.

Federally certified commercial administrator
During your apprenticeship, you will experience work and receive training in 6 different departments for six months at a time. In the shipping department, you will create delivery notes, plan routes for our fitters and notify customers of delivery dates. In sales, you will create quotations and purchase orders, and advise our customers. You will also work in the spare parts sales, purchasing, accounts and HR departments.

Federally certified design engineer
You will spend the first year of your apprenticeship with our training partner AZO in Uster. Your second to fourth years will take place at our Wolfhausen location and will involve varied work experience in which you learn about the main stages of product manufacturing at our company. You will initially start with easier tasks, eventually moving on to managing small to large projects independently.
The future
Since we consider the vocational education and training of young professionals to be an important component of the company's success and crucial to developing young talent, we are planning to expand our apprenticeship programme in the near future. Within the next 5 years, our aim is to be able to offer up to four additional apprenticeships. From 2019, we will, in cooperation with the AZO Uster, be offering an additional apprenticeship in production engineering at our premises. If you are interested in the course, please do not hesitate to contact AZO Uster directly.
