Schulthess Maschinen AG has been successfully training apprentices since 1960. We aim to give young professionals a foot on the ladder and optimal preparation for the world of work.
As a mechanical engineering firm, we follow the training plans of the Swiss Association of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Industries (Swissmem). The range of mechanical and electrical engineering professions on offer makes the training very exciting and opens up a variety of interesting career prospects and opportunities.
It is important to us to also be able to offer permanent positions to our apprentices, wherever possible, following the successful completion of their apprenticeships. Many apprentices therefore stay on with the company after their training and benefit from our professional development opportunities.
Great Place to Work We are proud to announce that, as of May 2019, Schulthess has been awarded Certified training company status.
Federally certified commercial administrator
During your apprenticeship, you will experience work and receive training in 6 different departments for six months at a time. In the shipping department, you will create delivery notes, plan routes for our fitters and notify customers of delivery dates. In sales, you will create quotations and purchase orders, and advise our customers. You will also work in the spare parts sales, purchasing, accounts and HR departments.
Federally certified design engineer
You will spend the first year of your apprenticeship with our training partner AZO in Uster. Your second to fourth years will take place at our Wolfhausen location and will involve varied work experience in which you learn about the main stages of product manufacturing at our company. You will initially start with easier tasks, eventually moving on to managing small to large projects independently.
Since we consider the vocational education and training of young professionals to be an important component of the company's success and crucial to developing young talent, we are planning to expand our apprenticeship programme in the near future. Within the next 5 years, our aim is to be able to offer up to four additional apprenticeships. From 2019, we will, in cooperation with the AZO Uster, be offering an additional apprenticeship in production engineering at our premises. If you are interested in the course, please do not hesitate to contact AZO Uster directly.
What our apprentices say about us...
The commercial training at Schulthess Maschinen AG is varied and exciting. I feel that the opportunity to work in six different departments over the course of three years provides a good grounding in commercial expertise. What I really like is that I am able to work independently and in a team. I also like the fact that, once a year, all of the apprentices go on a ski camp, which is perfect for team building.
I certainly made the right decision to complete my apprenticeship at Schulthess Maschinen AG. Working in 6 different departments is a great way to broaden my knowledge. What I like most is that I am treated like any other employee. This means that you are given a lot of responsibility even during the apprenticeship, which I find very exciting. Every apprentice also enjoys some great additional benefits.
Not only is the apprenticeship at Schulthess Maschinen AG very exciting, it is also extremely varied. I really appreciate the opportunity to work in 6 different departments. I also feel that I have a great working relationship with my colleagues. Everybody helps each other, and everyone feels accepted and respected. The job prospects are also good as Schulthess endeavours to keep apprentices on after they have finished the course, which is what happened to me…
Working as a team to achieve the best possible product quality; this is what Schulthess means to me. I like my work because each day is varied and full of new challenges. Thanks to the varied training at Schulthess Maschinen AG, I have gained insights into the business as a whole and become familiar with many different processes.
